Welcome to the Historic Brown Grove Baptist Church

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Welcome to Brown Grove Baptist Church—a historic and spirit-filled church located in Ashland, Virginia. For over 150 years, Brown Grove has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and service in our community. We are a church family deeply rooted in Christian love and committed to growing together in the knowledge of God’s Word and the work of His Kingdom.

About Us

As we move forward this year, we do so by Striving Behind Enemy Lines—answering God’s call to be bold, compassionate, and courageous in a world that so desperately needs the light of Christ. We are excited about what God is doing here at Brown Grove. We are proud of our leaders, our members, and the many ways this house of faith continues to press forward in unity and purpose. But we also believe God is not done with us yet.

We can no longer stand by while our children live in fear. We can no longer wait as families in our community struggle with basic needs. God is calling us to do greater works—not only to bless those inside the church walls but to be a blessing beyond them. We are committed to using our time, talent, and treasure to accomplish the mission God has blessed us with.

2 Corinthians 6:1-2 reminds us, ”…now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” At Brown Grove, we take that call seriously.

Why do we wrestle with god being god

This anointed message lifts high Jesus Christ—the free gift God gave to the whole world. Preached with power and conviction from Philippians 2 and John 3:16–17, the sermon declares that God’s motive is love, His method is grace, the gift is Jesus Himself, and the invitation is for everybody. It reminds us that salvation is not earned, not bought, and not worked for—it is received by faith in the finished work of the cross. With a heartfelt call to examine the soul, the message urges believers and seekers alike to respond right now, to trust in the living Savior who humbled Himself, died for our sins, rose with all power, and still stands ready to save, restore, and carry us through every trial.

This is the reason for the season—Jesus lives.

We are committed to

  • Providing a place of worship where all are welcomed and we walk together in Christian love.
  • Growing in holiness through worship, study, discipline, and sound doctrine.
  • Reaching out to win souls for Christ and building healthy, thriving families within our community.

Preaching from Luke 12:16–21, this sermon warns that self-centered plans lead to spiritual poverty. Through the parable of the rich fool, we’re reminded that God blesses us with time, talent, and treasure not just to store it up, but to serve, give, and show mercy with a heart like Christ. The message calls Brown Grove to let compassion grow, live out real faith, and go bless somebody else.
