Welcome to Brown Grove Baptist Church—a historic and spirit-filled church located in Ashland, Virginia. For over 150 years, Brown Grove has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and service in our community. We are a church family deeply rooted in Christian love and committed to growing together in the knowledge of God’s Word and the work of His Kingdom.
About Us
We can no longer stand by while our children live in fear. We can no longer wait as families in our community struggle with basic needs. God is calling us to do greater works—not only to bless those inside the church walls but to be a blessing beyond them. We are committed to using our time, talent, and treasure to accomplish the mission God has blessed us with.
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 reminds us, ”…now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” At Brown Grove, we take that call seriously.

1 Corinthians 13 & 1 John 3:14–18
In this powerful, Spirit-filled message, we are called back to the very heart of the church—the love of Jesus Christ lived out through compassion, sacrifice, and truth. Rooted in 1 Corinthians 13 and 1 John 3:14–18, this sermon reminds us that the church is not brick and mortar, but a people redeemed by the blood of Jesus and called to love not just in word, but in deed and in truth. With holy conviction, it challenges comfortable Christianity and empty religion, urging believers to examine their hearts and ask whether we truly love our brothers and sisters as Christ has loved us.

This message calls us to more than church routine—it calls us to heart transformation. With David’s cry, “Create in me a clean heart, O God,” we are reminded that God is not impressed by what people see on the outside, because the Lord searches every heart and knows every motive.
Part Two presses the question: Why do we do what we do? Are our intentions pure? Is our will surrendered? Are we seeking God first, or serving Him for attention, approval, or hidden gain?
This sermon challenges believers to stop playing church and start living surrendered—aligning our thoughts, intentions, and will with God’s will—because when the inner man is changed, the whole life follows.Â
