1870
Brown Grove Baptist Church was organized by six members who worshipped in a brush harbor. The members worshipped there for three years.

1893
Land was donated by the Brown family to be used for what is now Brown Grove Baptist Church.

1920s - 1930s
A wooden church was built under the pastor-ship of Rev. S.E. Funn. He served for 16 years.
A frame church was later built and Rev. Jim Weatherless served as the first Pastor in this church. Other pastors during this time included Rev. Izeiah Johnson, Rev. J.R. West, Rev. A.J. Ryan, and Rev. T.M. Allen.

1933
Rev. M.W. Rainey was installed as Pastor.

1941
The wooden church was burned down. After the church was destroyed, services were held at the Brown Grove School until it too, was destroyed by fire.

1945
The present day brick church was built and services went from being held twice a month to every Sunday.

1964
Rev. Raymond T. Gavins was installed as Pastor on May 31st. He later resigned in 1967.

1969
Rev. James Lynch was installed as Pastor on October 26th. During his tenure, Brown Grove celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1970. He pastored for 13 years before resigning in January 1982.

1982
Rev. Fernando E. Temple, Sr. was installed as pastor on July 25th.
The following ministries were established during his tenure:
- Budget Committee
- Scholarship Fund (later renamed the Frances L. Mason Scholarship fund)
- Youth Department (later renamed the Youth Ministry)
- Pastor's Aid Ministry
- Senior Citizen's Ministry

1997
The initial Church In the Field Service was held in the Jackson field in September. Today, it still serves as an outdoor annual event shared by the community.

2000
Brown Grove celebrated its 130th anniversary.

2002 - 2003
The Roman Roads Park was constructed as a path to introduce the scriptures of salvation.

2003
On March 6th, Rev. Temple resigned as Pastor after 21 years.

2003 - 2004
Rev. Herman Truehart served as Interim Pastor for 15 months.

2005
Rev. Gordon A. Pleasants was installed as Pastor of Brown Grove. He resigned in April 2008 after 3 years.

2010
Rev. Dr. Darius E. Beechaum was installed as Pastor on April 18th. Under his leadership, many improvements have been made to the building and grounds.

2020
Brown Grove Baptist Church celebrated 150 years in the Ashland community.
